Long-term care is no longer a niche topic — it is a daily reality
that challenges how we support vulnerable people and how we shape sustainable care
systems. This conference brings together public authorities, policymakers, service providers,
and academia, creating a space where perspectives meet and practical solutions can emerge. It
was built on a simple belief: meaningful progress happens when decisions are connected to
real-life experience. Our objective is to improve the quality of long-term
care services by identifying realistic, applicable directions. Our
purpose is to foster dialogue, exchange of experience, and collaboration between
all key actors involved in the system. The impact we aim: better services,
better-prepared professionals, and improved quality of life for elderly and vulnerable
individuals. Through discussions, presentations, and workshops, we address key challenges
such as population ageing, dignity and autonomy, digitalization, and palliative care. We
believe that real change in this field is built together—and this conference is a step in that
direction.

The Faculty of Sociology and Social Work has seen an explosive growth during the last
years, especially through the development of Master’s degree and Ph.D. education.
Currently, the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work creates specialists in social
sciences through its four Bachelor’s degree programmes, Sociology, Social
Assistance, Human Resources and Anthropology, 14 Master’s programmes (two-year long
programmes) and Ph.D. programmes, which have over 120 Ph.D. students enrolled during
the internship process, in both full-time and part-time studying.

In 1860, alongside the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of
Philosophy was one of the core faculties of the University of Iași. Over time, some
of the greatest Romanian intellectuals have delivered lectures in the auditoriums of
the faculty: Titu Maiorescu, Vasile Conta, Simion Bărnuțiu, Dimitrie Gusti, Ștefan
Zeletin, Ion Petrovici, Mihai Ralea, Petre Andrei, Alexandru Claudian, Ștefan
Bârsănescu, Vasile Pavelcu, Petre Botezatu, Ernest Stere. Over the decades, the
Faculty has extended its activity and collaboration, forming partnerships with
prestigious academic institutions in Romania and with public and private employers
in the areas of Philosophy, Sociology, Political Sciences, International Relations
and European Studies, Social Work, Human Resources, Communication Sciences and
Public Relations.

Identifying solutions for improving the standards of long-term services
